Folks remember there is not such thing as an "accidental gun discharge"
Policeman in court over gun blunder
United Kingdom - Posted Tue, 09 Jun 2009
A police firearms instructors and his chief constable are due to appear in court charged with health and safety breaches after a civilian was accidentally shot through the stomach.
Control room worker Keith Tilbury was in a classroom with 10 colleagues at Thames Valley Police headquarters in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, when a round went into his body.
PC David Micklethwaite, who was teaching on that day, and the force's chief constable will face City of Westminster magistrates in central London accused of breaching health and safety laws in connection with the incident.
Mr Tilbury, 51, was rushed to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital for an operation after the incident. He is now taking legal action against the force, while the Health and Safety Executive announced its intention to prosecute last month.
